A European Girls Day with FabConnectHer – 14th of April

Inspired by the Dutch Girls Day, organised by VHTO (vhto.nl), FabConnectHer is taking this idea one step further.

Across Europe, our partners will organise their own Girls Day activities, all connected through one shared goal: inspiring more girls to explore STEAM.

During these days, girls will get hands-on with technology. They will design, create and experiment in Fab Labs. From working with digital tools to building their own prototypes, the focus is on learning by doing.

Each country will shape its own programme, based on local contexts and partners. At the same time, all activities are part of one European movement. Together, we show how important it is to create more space for girls in technology and innovation.

This blogpost will be updated with stories, experiences and results from across Europe once all activities have taken place.

Stay tuned!

D’Lab

At 09:00, the girls arrived at the D’Lab in Leeuwarden, ready to get started. We kicked off with a short introduction and a tour through the Fab Lab, where they got a first look at the different machines and projects in the space.

After that, it was time to get hands-on. The girls could choose between making stickers, 3D printing, or laser cutting. They designed their own earrings or keychains and saw their ideas come to life using the machines.
