Fab & Fierce Challenge
The Fab & Fierce Challenge invited girls and women to celebrate a woman who made an impact in STEAM by turning her story into a creative prototype or digital project. The challenge ran from the 7th to the 14th of February 2026, and the response was fantastic. 16 brilliant entries came in from across the EU and internationally, each one a unique tribute to a female pioneer in science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics.
Participants picked their heroine, researched her story and legacy, created something inspired by her, and presented their project in a short video. Fab Labs and Maker Spaces across the network opened their doors during challenge week, welcoming girls and women in to develop their prototypes, get inspired, and bring their ideas to life. Run Your Own Fab & Fierce Challenge
The Project Brief
The challenge brief is available for any Fab Lab or Maker Space that wants to run their own version. The format is simple and adaptable: pick a timeframe that works for your community, open your doors, support participants in creating something inspired by a female role model, and celebrate the results.
